Man thrown from vehicle on Indiana Toll Road

Traffic was backed up for miles on the Indiana Toll Road Sunday afternoon because of a one car crash near mile marker 86 in St. Joseph County.

The driver was ejected from a van and was taken to the hospital.

Police have not released the driver's name, but said he was responsive when they got to the crash.

“The van swerved to avoid hitting a truck that supposedly cut him off. He rolled two or three times and was ejected, believe he wasn't wearing a seat belt,” said Indiana State Trooper Anthony Canul.

The highway was down to one lane for a couple of hours while police cleaned up the scene.
