'Hello Gorgeous!" mobile salon debuts at tent party
South Bend, IN The luck of the Irish brought a Michiana breast cancer survivor a day of good cheer she and her husband will never forget.

The luck of the Irish brought a Michiana breast cancer survivor a day of good cheer she and her husband will never forget.
“Hello Gorgeous!" is a local non-profit organization that provides salon and spa services for patients who have cancer.
On St. Patrick’s Day, they debuted their mobile salon at a
special tent party put on by TGI Fridays on Ireland road.
Tena Johnson was the first to get pampered in the mobile unit and she had quite a crowd to witness the "Hello Gorgeous!" makeover.
She was honored, yet shocked when she learned why her husband wanted to go to this party so badly.
Tena says, “Lots of lies. He’s definitely good. He's been very supportive.”
He was so supportive, he cut all his hair off.
John says, “I've had long hair since since I was, I don’t know, now I'm 45 years old.”
He knew how sad his wife felt when she lost hers.
It was no surprise to Kim Becker, the founder of “Hello Gorgeous!,” when she heard what Tena is most excited about
Tena says, “I’m excited to see the new hair.”
Kim says, “A lot of times women are more concerned with their hair than the loss of their life. Some are ready to give up and truly don't want to look in a mirror.”
After the royal treatment including a new wig, manicure, pedicure, and an outfit, Kim knows just how gorgeous Tena will feel.
Kim says, “When they leave, their shoulders are back, heads are held high, and they're smiling.”
John couldn't stand the two hour wait. He was so thrilled that his wife was the first person nominated by family and friends and accepted to make the grand entrance out of the mobile salon.
John says, “She needs it and she needs it right now and when she comes out, I'm going to be the happiest man alive. That is awesome. I just thank them for coming here and doing this.”
The couple showed their thanks as Tena walked out the door, down the red carpet, and into the tent party.
Tena says, “It's amazing how you feel. You come out and you do feel beautiful and the women inside their make you feel beautiful inside and out.”
The mobile salon will travel to homes to give people battling cancer, the privacy and attention they deserve.
