Three weeks ago, Notre Dame made a change. The flashy, exciting offensive just wasn’t winning games.

The Irish transitioned to a slow pace scheme and the results were six straight wins and a #6 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Simply put, this isn't your run and gun Irish offense anymore.

Now when you flip on the tube Thursday afternoon to see Notre Dame battle Old Dominion in the opening round of the Big Dance, you'll be watching the burn offense.

"It seems like it takes forever for us to get started but once we do, we get good shots and are playing pretty well,” junior Tim Abromaitis says.

The Irish are using every second of every possession. So why shouldn’t you? We asked the Irish players to give fans some advise on what can be accomplished while Notre Dame runs a play.

"Let's see you got 35 seconds,” Carleton Scott says laughing. “You can pretty much do a lot in 35 seconds. Not sure what people can accomplish but it's a lot of time."

But we need specifics and if Scott doesn’t have the answers, we’ll turn to the seasoned vet---captain Luke Harangody.

"You can probably run to the fridge real quick and get a cold beverage if they want to,” Gody says with a smile. “You probably have a good 30 seconds until we get a shot up."

What else?

"You can probably microwave some popcorn,” Abromaitis advises. “Flip a couple of different channels. Get dinner started--something like that."

But what kind of dinner? Captain Tory Jackson came with plenty of suggestions.

"They probably can cook a dozen hot tomales, two oven baked pizzas, and probably a batch of fries before we get the shot up,” Jackson says.

Jackson even thinks there might be enough time for him to pickup a side job while bringing the ball up the court.

"I've considered selling flowers,” Jackson says with a straight face. “I've considered a lot. But that burn offense, it takes a lot out of you."

Actually it takes a lot out of the opposing team. Mentally more than anything. The burn offense is frustrating for opponents.

And the Irish feel they can run it effectively against Old Dominion which they compare to more of a Big East team than a Colonial Athletic Association conference champion.
