LaPorte County judge Jennifer Evans-Koethe will be off the bench for the next two months, after being punished by the Supreme Court.
Koethe allegedly asked police to destroy an apparent suicide note, during an investigation into a shooting in her home in 2008.
She had claimed she was holding the gun when it went off, grazing her in the head. But prosecutors said she and her husband had been fighting, and he loaded the gun.
Koethe was cleared of criminal charges, but she also faced judicial charges.
The Supreme Court decided to suspend her from the bench for 60 days without pay.
