Teenage girl fights near abduction

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an attempted kidnapping reported by a teenage girl.

A teenage girl says she fought back when a strange man tried to kidnap her and break into her house.

It happened Monday night at the Millwood Trailer Park, just south of Nappanee on State Road 19.

A 14-year-old teen, who NewsCenter 16 chose not to identify, says she was taking a walk Monday night when a strange man offered to give her a ride.

She thought it was suspicious, so she went home.

The man followed her home and offered her drugs once she answered the door. She says he then tried to barge into the house.

The teen fought back with the help of her two dogs.

“He was like, 'can I come in' and I was like, 'no.' He grabbed my arm and then he kicked open my door and my dogs both bit him and when I leaned down I grabbed my two-by-four by my door and hit him in the shoulder and pushed him out the door and shut the door and locked it,” the teen says.

The teen called police from a friend’s house.

Police are asking people to keep a lookout for a white male in his late 40's, weighing 150 pounds, with short hair and driving a navy Ford pickup truck.

If you have any information, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-342-STOP.
