After months of planning, the weather held out perfectly for a golf outing with a special cause.
Saturday afternoon, the Scott Severns Memorial Golf Outing was held at the Blackthorn Golf Club and 144 golfers participated in the four-person scramble.
A total of 35,000 dollars was raised, and the money will go towards the Heroes section at South Bend’s Southlawn Cemetery.
It is an area where local police officers and their families can be buried.
“Scott used to be a member out here. This was probably his favorite course to play. After everything happened and everything calmed down, we got together with his mom and said we need to put this on and said we could have a great turnout and raise a lot of money for this event,” said Rich Love, of the Blackthorn Golf Course.
Applebee’s helped to raise 10,000 dollars towards the 35,000 total.
