Elkhart’s ideal beach was host to what some call an ideal Father’s Day activity Sunday morning.
Over one hundred athletes competed in the "Get It Goin’ On!" Triathlon.
Adults and kids as young as seven years old swam, ran and rode bikes to the finish line.
Young athletes received pointers from dear ole dad on his day.
“I think it’s kind of cool that dad gets to have an event with the family on his day,” said triathlon competitor Ryan Stork.
“I think it’s great. It’s a lot of fun to be with the family at an event like this on father’s day. Do exercise with the whole family, show them what its like to be in a competition, just get out and enjoy the fresh air,” another participant added.
This was the first year for the event in Elkhart.
There were several distance choices for people, which included a 50 meter run, 1.5 mile bike ride and a quarter mile run. An 800 meter run, 15 mile bike ride and a three mile run were also options.
