South Bend police responded to three shootings in just over an hour Sunday morning.

The spree happened on the south side of South Bend, and it apparently began when four suspects stole ammunition from a Wal-Mart, then shot at a Wal-Mart employee.

As of Monday evening, police said one suspect was considered armed and dangerous. Dominique Clark, 18, of South Bend, is six feet tall and could be driving a 1979 black Cadillac Eldorado with tinted windows and possible front end damage. The license plate is likely XZ 842, police said.

"We think he is somewhat of a threat to the public," said Capt. Phil Trent with South Bend Police.

Clark was likely involved in another shooting on Monday morning.

Also, a 19-year-old man was in the St. Joseph County Jail on Monday after being arrested in connection with the Sunday morning crimes.

Miguel Perez, 19, of South Bend, is facing preliminary charges of robbery, criminal recklessness and theft. Police say he admitted to being at Wal-Mart on West Ireland Road on Sunday morning.

Police are still looking for two other suspects, as well.

Here’s what they say happened:

Police arrived at that Wal-Mart around 7:20 a.m. Sunday. Police say four suspects walked out with stolen ammunition. When a Wal-Mart loss-prevention officer followed them to the parking lot to try and stop them, they opened fire on him.

He was not hit by the gunfire, police said.

"They were obviously out of control," said Captain Phil Trent of the South Bend Police Department.

Police say there were four suspects. They fled in a 2000's era gold or champagne-colored four-door Cadillac. That vehicle, police say, likely took the men from Wal-Mart to Irish Hills apartments, which is on Inwood Road in South Bend.

At about 8:30 a.m., police responded to a shots-fired call at the complex, for a unit where neighbors say the tenant has made noise in the past.

Police say after shots were fired at Irish Hills, the Cadillac left. Soon after, the car happened upon a 58-year-old male - a complete stranger -who they attempted to rob, and shot in the shoulder. Captain Trent said that the suspect descriptions in this incident matched those of the earlier two shootings.

The stranger that was shot was not seriously injured. Police say he's the only one who was actually shot in a shooting spree that they say is still under investigation.

"Everybody outstanding in this case is extremely dangerous, only because they've shown absolutely no regard for anybody's safety," said Captain Trent.

"Every part of the plan unraveled, and became violent. I don't think there was any part of the script that they stuck to and it ended badly for a lot of different people," said Trent.

Also, there was another shooting South Bend police responded to at 8:10 a.m. on Eckman Street Sunday morning.
