South Bend’s police chief has recommended firing an officer.
Corporal Tony Macik was arrested last July following an incident at Duncan Systems in Elkhart.
Macik was convicted of showing up at his wife’s workplace and getting into a fight with one of her co-workers.
He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery in the case in April.
On Wednesday, the South Bend board of public safety approved the charges against Corporal Macik.
Macik will be granted a hearing before the board acts on Police Chief Tom Fautz’s recommendation that Macik be fired.
That hearing has yet to be scheduled.
