Students Tour The Potawatomi Zoo

Dozens of school kids from St. Joseph to Middlebury enjoyed a field trip to the Potawatomi Zoo in South Bend Wednesday.

Students got a chance to tour all of the animal exhibits, including the monkey and bird exhibits.

While it is a fun time for the kids, it is also a huge learning experience.

“It’s the end of the school year, the children are still coming in and learning about the animals and what we are doing to help preserve and save the environment," said Marcy Dean of the Potawatomi Zoo.

With temperatures nearing 90 degrees, the students also learned what it takes to keep the animals cool and comfortable.

The Potawatomi Zoo is open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm.
