Inmate Dies After Incarceration

A Berrien County jail inmate died on Tuesday after being rushed to the emergency room soon after being arrested.

Doyle Jackson was brought to the jail by the Benton Harbor police department.

Deputies helped get the man from the patrol car because police say he resisted the officers.

After he was booked, he started showing “signs of stress” and was taken to the hospital where he subsequently died.

A state agency is now investigating what exactly happened at the jail and how he died.
