A Kosciusko county man, accused in the beating death of a child, may soon face murder charges.
Ian James Clark was arrested Friday, after his girlfriend's two-year old daughter was found unresponsive outside his home.
Right now Ian James Clark is behind bars, accused of beating 2 year old Samantha Muchowicz.
The prosecuting attorney's office and detectives are meeting this afternoon, and according to police, additional charges could be coming this week.
Neighbors on Ridinger Lake say they're shocked 2 year old Samantha has died. ”We've known her since she’s been about a year old. She’s been at our house, many times. I played with her three weeks ago in my yard,” Edward DeWells tells us; but he’s not surprised to hear their neighbor, 34 year old Ian Clark, could be responsible.
”Many different neighbors have called the law at many different times about many different occasions about many different things that he’s done out here,” DeWells says of Clark.
Clark, who is the mother's boyfriend, is behind bars today, charged with beating the little girl. Preliminary autopsy results have been released, and Clark may face an additional charge of murder.
”The preliminary cause of death is blunt force trauma, and the preliminary manner of death right now were listing it as violence,” Kosciusko county deputy coroner Mike Wilson tells us.
As deputy coroner he deals with death every day. Still, Wilson says this death is particularly hard to deal with. “Being a parent you raise your own children and anything that relates back to the trauma of a child. Death of a child is hard to deal with.”
Those who knew the two year old and her family are dealing with the loss, but wishing that she would have been taken out of harms way.
