New Scrap Metal Laws

Police in Indiana hope a new law will help them crack down on scrap metal thefts.

The law requires scrap metal recyclers to keep records of who sells metals that are often used in construction.

Thefts of metal cause millions of dollars in damage to businesses across the state.

Scrap metal also played a part in the death of four South Bend homeless men in January.

Two men were charged with killing those men and putting their bodies in manholes over a dispute about scrap metal.
