Old glory will help represent local patriotism here in Michiana this upcoming holiday weekend.
A sea of red, white and blue flags flap in the wind across the street from Beutter Park in Mishawaka.
These healing flags and honor field offer a place for people to find comfort and inspiration.
The Mishawaka Optimist and Exchange clubs come together every year to coordinate the display. What’s more, members say it feels great to see people stop by and reflect for a moment.
"It makes me feel for two seconds or one minute they remember the United States of America,” said Ruth Borsodi of the Mishawaka Optimist Club.
Borsodi added, "We're always so busy in our lives and whether you believe in the war or not the flag is part of us. It is us."
Memory ribbons with a loved one's name are also available at the field.
