Home Invasion Turns into High Speed Pursuit

Police in two counties are searching for five suspects after a home invasion in Berrien County led to a high speed pursuit that ended in South Bend.

A Niles police officer crashed his car in the pursuit.

It all started as Niles officers responded to a home invasion sometime after two o’clock Thursday morning; soon after Niles Police were in pursuit of a car holding five suspects.

The chase led police along State Road 9-33 into South Bend where for an unknown reason, a Niles police car crashed at Lafayette and LaSalle.

The suspects bailed out of the car just a few blocks away near Cottage Grove.

South Bend Police found their car, but are still searching for the suspects.

The Niles officer involved in the crash suffered only minor injuries.
