Tax On Gas Gives Hoosiers Even Higher Prices

Despite record prices at the pump, Hoosiers still have to pay sales tax on gas.

House Speaker Pat Bauer sent Governor Daniels a letter Tuesday asking him to suspend the tax.

The letter did not make Daniels change his mind.

Back in 2000 when gas hit a $1.80 Governor Frank O’Bannon used a 1981 law to temporarily suspend the tax.

Daniels says he is looking to see if that threshold for declaring an "energy emergency" is being met now.
