Scientists Study Elderly Falls

Millions of elderly go to the emergency room each year after slipping and falling.

Now, researchers are trying to learn how these accidents happen.

The University of Pittsburgh harnessed over 100 adults and placed them in slippery situations.

Then, they observed how their body reacted and moved during a fall.

Researchers want to see how people save themselves from falling, and how aging affects that response.

They are also trying to figure out the differences between men and women, young and old.

As well as, if the way someone walks contributes to a fall.
