The former headquarter of the Studebaker Corporation will apparently have a future.
The building at 635 South Main last housed South Bend School administrators until the superintendent and crew moved out last June.
A July first deadline had been set to either rehabilitate, or demolish the building.
It looks like that deadline will be beaten on Friday.
The Mayor's office has scheduled a news conference at the building to announce a “multi million dollar development.”
Clearly that's an important building for the city of South Bend,” said Mayor Stephen Luecke. “Historically, but also its placement at the south end of downtown.”
The city's Redevelopment Commission is set to approve a development agreement for the building tomorrow morning.
The resolution doesn't mention the developer--by name.
