South Bend Man Accused of Beating Two Women

A South Bend man imprisoned after he was falsely convicted of rape, was court Thursday morning, to answer to charges of beating his estranged wife.

Richard Alexander is accused of beating up two different women in the last two years.

Thursday, Alexander pleaded "not guilty" to the charges of assult.

The case is due back in court July 18th, with his trial set for August 30th.

You may remember Alexander spent five years in prison for a series of 1996 rapes in the River Park area.

He was eventually cleared by DNA evidence and released in 2001.

In May of 2005, Alexander was charged with beating a former girlfriend with a lead pipe.

He faces trial May 22nd.
