“Play ball,” was heard by more than 4,700 Michiana students this morning.
The students took in a Silver Hawks game at Coveleski Stadium.
Twice a year, the Silver Hawks host a game for Michiana schools.
Today a crowd of fifth graders took in the game.
While the weather looked iffy at times, the students did not seem to mind.
Baseball fan Christian Hess says, “We watch the game, each lunch, then go over to the fun center. Sure beats sitting in class, yeah.
“I've never been to a baseball game before and I'm getting autographs. It's pretty cool,” says fifth grader, Ciera Anderson.
The students paid about $3.50 a ticket and that included lunch.
Stadium workers prepared around 4,000 lunches this morning, starting at 5 AM.
