Another day, another record high for gas prices.
Tuesday, the national average soared to nearly $3.20 a gallon, but here in Michiana it is much worse.
They say seeing is believing and unfortunately, we are seeing gas prices near $3.60 a gallon.
That is $.28 higher than national average and on par with Chicago prices, which are the highest in the nation.
We started the day with prices around $3.30 at several Michiana stations.
Many places hiked their prices before noon Tuesday and just in time for the Memorial Day weekend.
Drivers say the sky high prices are making them think twice about their driving habits.
Jean Anne Strebinger, concerned driver, said, "It hurts it bites. My husband and I ride bikes a lot, he rides his bikes to work a lot. We try to limit our trips out, so we try to limit our trips out, but sometimes you have to take it."
She will have to grin and bear it this weekend.
Jean Anne is driving to New York for her daughter's college graduation.
We talked to several people Tuesday who say gas prices will hinder their travel plans.
They may stick closer to home, or alter their plans to save a buck somewhere else.
