Saint Mary’s College Plants A Peace Pole

Saint Mary’s College is taking a stand against violence.

Friday morning, a peace pole was planted near the entrance of the Church of Our Lady.

The pole is a global symbol of commitment to peace and non-violence.

The prayer "May Peace Prevail on Earth" can be read in four languages on the pole.

The pole is a representation of the worldwide connection to peace.

Joy O'Graby, Sisters of the Holy Cross said, “It's a sense of unity. It's our oneness coming together it's not just South Bend or Brazil. It's a worldwide desire for peace and non-violence in our World.”

Over 250 thousand peace poles have been planted in 180 countries.

More peace poles are scheduled to be planted in Ghana, Mexico, Maryland and California.
