Michigan Hopes to Increase Tourism

Michigan's tourism industry wants to lure more out of state visitors.

Industry officials say they will need some extra cash to pull it off.

A coalition of hospitality and business groups wants the state to spend 30 million a year promoting the Pure Michigan Travel Campaign.

A temporary funding boost has Michigan somewhere in the middle among states in spending money on tourism promotion.

Supporters say spending more to promote tourism generates more sales tax and jobs for the state.
