An Elkhart man was killed this afternoon in a crash just west of Elkhart.
It happened just before four this afternoon along old US 20, about a mile west of Elkhart.
43-year-old James Holmes was trying to pass a car near Osborn Avenue.
That is when he lost control of his car and was hit by a pickup truck going the opposite direction.
Holmes had to be cut from his car.
Rescuers pronounced him dead at Elkhart General Hospital.
