You may be in for some money and not even know it.
Each year, millions of dollars goes unclaimed in Indiana.
In 2006 in north central Indiana alone over three million dollars was turned over to the state.
To help get the word out, Attorney General Steve Carter was in South Bend Thursday.
The state is launching a public awareness campaign with billboards, TV, radio, and newspaper ads.
Carter said, “Unclaimed property involves un-cashed checks, saving accounts, checking accounts, utility company deposits, basically financial accounts that have been unattended to for a period of five years."
The state says new assets are always being added.
You have up to 25-years to make your claim.
