Students Safety On Michiana Campuses

The shooting has every college and university Michiana re-evaluating its security plans.

Although, many students say they don't see a need for changes since they already feel safe.

Students at Saint Mary's College say their small campus creates a sense of security.

Notre Dame students say they see constant police patrols.

Students agree that a shooting like the one at Virginia Tech, is almost impossible to prevent -- no matter what security precautions are taken!

“I don't think there are any security measures you could do to make it safer, it’s not realistic, all you can do is do your best.. and hope everything will be safe,” says Notre Dame students Casey O’Hallorn.

“I think the fact that a campus is an open atmosphere and is designed that way is just to have the sharing of information knowledge. I don't think there is anyway you could secure a campus anywhere that ND or V-tech has or tries to,” says Notre Dame Jim Masters.

School officials at both Notre Dame and Saint Mary's didn't want to talk on camera about the possibility of new security policies, saying it's still too early.
