Return of the Cicadas

After a 17-year absence, millions of cicadas are set to make a comeback in Northwest Indiana.

The periodical brood 13 cicadas are expected to descend upon Lake, LaPorte and Porter counties at the end of May.

The insects are two-inches long with black bodies, reddish legs, wings and eyes.

The cicadas do not bite but agriculture experts say they cause significant damage to trees and don't be surprised if some creep into your home.

A different type of cicada popped up in Michiana a few years ago.
