One man is seriously hurt after, police say, he was found in the middle of a South Bend street after being beaten severely.
The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit is investigating.
South Bend Police tell us they responded to reports of an assault in the 200 block of East Indiana Avenue around 8:00 P.M. Thursday.
They found a man with severe head injuries, lying face-up, in the middle of the roadway.
He was taken to a local hospital, where he is in serious condition Friday morning.
So far police have not made any arrests, but they say witnesses tell them two people were seen leaving the scene before authorities arrived.
