The man suffered a single gunshot wound to the head and police believe his death was a suicide.
Then, just after 2:00P.M. Tuesday, LaPorte County Police went to a home in the Hunter's Run subdivision near US 20 and Fail Road where they found the body of a woman who had apparently been shot.
LaPorte County dispatchers say they discovered that the woman was the wife of the man found in the church parking lot earlier and believe the two deaths are possibly related and continued investigation today.
Police say that this is the latest of five shootings that have occured recently in LaPorte County.
John Sullivan, LaPorte County Deputy Coroner says, "Lately we have had a very high increase in suicide with young people, middle aged and older for a variety of reasons. Our suicides are up and obviously our shootings and suicides are up and its very alarming and very disturbing personally for all of us."
