11-Year-Old Shooter’s Sentence Changes

The boy who shot 11-year-old Aaliyah Joiner will see a slight change to his sentence.

Joiner died last December.

Her 12-year-old cousin shot her at their grandparents' house in Elkhart.

The boy admitted he pulled the trigger, and said it was an accident.

He was sentenced to 24-hour supervision on the juvenile charge of reckless homicide.

Now, our Read It, Watch It partners at The Truth say the boy's mother wants a different adult to watch the boy, so she can go back to work.

A judge granted her request Tuesday and you can read more about this story in Wednesday's edition of the Elkhart Truth.
