Gang graffiti keeps making its mark in one Elkhart neighborhood.
Homeowner and parent Jessica Vazquez found her garage and car spray painted with Hispanic gang symbols.
Just down the street other parts of the neighborhood on the southside of Elkhart are covered with similar markings or have already been cleaned up.
Police say they encourage homeowners to report graffiti because it helps them keep track of where the gangs are hanging out.
“If you get graffiti you need to keep an eye out because that means there probably is some type of criminal activity,” says Corporal Terry Cochran.
“We came out here and saw it all over like this... its wrong and it shouldn't be like this. I've got kids. I think it is wrong that somebody would be doing something like this on somebody's property,” says Vazquez.
Police say the best way to stop graffiti in the neighborhood is to clean it up immediately to keep other gangs from painting over it.
Recently, the Elkhart police department started cracking down on curfew. Parents face a fine if their children are out after hours.
