Indiana's minimum wage would be tied to the federal rate under a bill passed today by a senate committee.
Right now, congress is talking about raising the federal minimum wage to $7.25 an hour.
If that happens and Indiana passes its bill, the state's rate would increase to the same level, and match any future federal increases.
Some Hoosiers wanted to increase the minimum wage to $7.50 an hour.
Several Republicans and Indiana businesses said they would not support it.
