Governor Daniels Visits Camp Atterbury

Mitch Daniels traded in the Governor's Mansion for military barracks last night.

Governor Daniels spent the night at Camp Atterbury., and ate with troops Thursday morning.

He ate breakfast with 25 members of the 416th Engineering Command set to deploy to Iraq in April.

Many troops pass through Camp Atterbury before being deployed to Iraq.

The governor said he wanted to show his appreciation for all national guardsmen, even as polls show wavering support for the war. "First of all, so much talent in the American military, so much purpose, so much patriotism of course, and I just don't think we can thank them enough. I am proud that Atterbury is a place where folks here from every state in the union can experience a little bit of Indiana and a state that appreciates them as we do."

Members of the 416th will be working with the US Corps of Engineers to rebuild the infrastructure of Iraq.
