Schools Hire Specialists to Help Performance

More Michigan schools are hiring turnaround specialists to help them meet the academic standards of "No Child Left Behind".

Schools that fail to meet standards for six straight years must restructure to try and improve their performance.

Last year, about 72 percent of Michigan schools in the restructuring phase used a turnaround specialist the year before, only 16 percent used one.

The specialists have limited power but help with curriculum and staff development.
