Lawmakers Look To Increase Minimum Wage

Indiana lawmakers are looking for a way to boost support for a higher minimum wage.

A new bill proposes an increase to $7.50 an hour by 2008.

That would eventually make it higher than the federal rate.

A state senate committee could revise the bill next week to make Indiana's minimum wage the same as the federal rate.

Either way, the bill's author says it is important to pass the measure, because some workers are only covered by the Indiana rate.
