Almost 24 hours later, Police are still searching for the driver responsible for a deadly hit and run in Mishawaka.

Two people were killed, including a Mishawaka High School student. Tonight family and friends of the two victims are trying to sort through the shock of losing their loved ones so suddenly.

16-year-old Adam Vickery and 43-year-old Dennis Evans died in the hit and run. It took place just after midnight on 12th Street, near Campbell Street, when a car drove up on the shoulder and into their group of five people. Evans was apparently walking the teens home.

Tonight, those who knew the victims are asking that the person responsible to come forward. Fighting back tears, family and friends laid flowers and mementos around crosses they'd made, in memory of two lives suddenly cut short.

“My brother lost his life helping somebody try and get home,” says Dennis Evan’s sister Krystal Hmurovich. 43-year-old Dennis Evans and 16-year-old Adam Vickery both died in that hit and run, just after midnight on Tuesday.

“For this to happen to him, through all his struggles and everything else that he's faced, it's pretty hard right now,” says Vickery’s cousin, Chris Medich. Sadly, Vickery is no stranger to tragedy. In 2001, the teen lost his father, he was hit by a train and killed. And in 1997, Vickery's younger brother was hit by a car while riding his bike.

“I can't sleep, thinking, flashbacks about the whole thing, it's crazy,” says Myles Wooten. Wooten is Vickery's friend and was also with him at the time of the accident. “I started seeing this car driving by fast and his lights were bright.”

As investigators piece together the incident, family and friends are hoping a suspect comes forward soon. “More so than helping them find the suspect, I hope they turn themselves in, you already did wrong by taking off and leaving them,” says Evans’ brother Kevin Evans.

Police need your help finding the suspect. They're looking for a mid-90's Chevy Caprice or Buick that's burgundy in color. They say the car should be heavily damaged on its front passenger side. If you have any information call Crime-Stoppers at 288-STOP.

Adam Vickery was my brother.I miss Him so much and I just cant seem to understand How a murder such as james krueger Can still be out walking around.knowing he is more then able to do it agien. I am out raged at all the court continuences he has made. When all he is trying to do is Stretch his time out as much as possible. Its sad that Krueger gets to have birthday partys and see his children.my brother didnt even live long enough to have children or even his 17th birthday.

Adam Vickery was one of the sweetest nicest guys you could ever meet. He was funny and beautiful in every way. James Krueger deserves hell for what he did to Dennis and Adam. May they rest in peace.
