Michigan State Police say the body found in the St. Joseph River Tuesday was 48 year-old Thomas Miller. Police made the announcement after an autopsy was performed Wednesday afternoon.

The body was found Tuesday just north of the Indiana-Michigan state line in Berrien County. Firefighters made the discovery while doing some routine training on the St. Joseph River.

Earlier Wednesday NewsCenter 16 spoke with Thomas Miller's family and they confirmed they'd been notified Miller's body had been found. Michigan State Police tell us Miller's wallet was found on the body.

Miller was an employee in the Building Services Department at the University of Notre Dame. He hadn't been seen since he didn't show up for work on November 5th.

Miller's family did not want to go on camera, but they tell us the discovery and identification of their loved one brings closure to their family.
