Company B Member Honored

A member of South Bend's Company B who was wounded in Iraq was honored today for his sacrifice.

Corporal Marvin Heimann was shot in the leg and came home a few months before his fellow Marines.

Today he was back with his brothers and sisters at the Armed Forces Reserve Center, and the Marine Corps awarded him a Purple Heart.

Heimann says, "When I was shot, they told me I was coming home. I didn't really like the idea of it. I almost felt like I let the company down, just because I couldn’t finish up the tour with them."

"I cannot tell you how much of an honor it is to pin that medal on his chest, because when we sent him home, we sent home a huge piece of the company," says Major Mark Boone.

Corporal Heimann has a lot to celebrate as he continues to recover after his wife gave birth to a brand new baby daughter while he was serving in Iraq.
