The Saint Joseph County Prosecutor's Office filed charges today after a Granger man was beaten to death Wednesday.
Twenty-year old Ronald Underwood is charged with aggravated battery after Dean Hughes was found dead in his home on Clover Trail in Granger.
Police say Underwood beat Hughes on Wednesday and immediately following Underwood was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of murder.
However, after investigating prosecutors realized there was not enough evidence to prove he meant to kill the man.
If he is convicted he could get 20-years in prison.
Prosecutors also filed charges against Tara Huffman of South Bend who they say she stole Hughes' wallet when he was unconscious, then used his ATM card to steal 300-dollars.
Then when police went to her apartment, they found cocaine so now she faces charges of fraud, theft, and possession of cocaine.
