Middle Schoolers Become Culturally Aware

Some local students traveled the world this week without even leaving the classroom and it is all part of cultural awareness days at John Young middle school.

Yesterday and today, 8th graders are exploring other cultures by learning about different religions, foods and music.

Teachers felt they were great ways to have students learn about different cultures around the world and here at home.

“What we are doing is bringing in speakers from various backgrounds, from different countries of the world to talk to our students about their culture and background and the different things that they observe in their culture,” says Priscilla Dresse of John Young Middle School.

Speakers from Africa, Thailand and Greece spoke to the students.
