A 73-year-old man has a heart attack at a Michiana department store.
Remarkably, two men step in to help save his life.
Troy Smith and Cory Allen administered CPR to George Avon last month at the South Bend Kohl's store.
Thanks to their efforts, Avon is recovering at home.
Friday, the men were recognized by American Safety and First Aid.
“I started thinking about what's the first step. I checked for a pulse. I checked for breathing. Then, I started my compressions. That's when Cory jumped in,” says Troy.
“When you're doing it in real life to save a person's life, your emotions are going. Your adrenaline is going. It's a lot different. There is a difference,” Cory explains.
Avon is expected to make a full recovery.
