Driving through South Bend's Northeast Neighborhood you might start to see some major changes!
Today Mayor Steve Luecke outlined the city's revitalization plan at the Northern Indiana Mayor's Roundtable meeting.
One of the changes that can already be seen is the Boy Scouts Center on State Road 23.
Also other plans include shops and restaurants at the corner of Eddy and Edison road.
The city also wants to reconstruct "The Triangle" neighborhood and feature more affordable homes.
The city plans to realign State Road 23 smoothing out the five points intersection.
City leaders say the project wouldn't be possible without the community’s cooperation.
“It was really holistic planning. It was the right mix of partners to be able to do this… to be able to create some changes that will be positive for the entire community,” says Mayor Stephen Luecke of South Bend.
Construction is set to begin this summer.
Overall the project will take a few years and costs 150 million dollars.
