Martin Sentenced To 65 Years For Murder

Kevin Martin was sentenced Wednesday morning to 65 years in prison for killing his girlfriend, Pearlie Dickerson.

He shot and killed her in July of 2006 inside her Courtyard Place apartment on Jefferson Blvd.

Four of her children were in another bedroom at the time, heard the shots and saw their mother lying on the floor.

Judge Jerome Frese said that was the main reason he gave Martin the maximum sentence.

Three of Dickerson’s children, her sister, and a friend all testified at the sentencing hearing Wednesday.

Martin was convicted of the murder in February. He and his attorney said they planned to appeal the verdict.
