On the heels of a recent embezzlement scandal,
The executive director of Downtown South Bend has resigned.
Laura Guy submitted her resignation Wednesday after four years on the job.
Downtown South Bend is a not for profit group formed to promote the downtown. More than half it's budget comes from city funds.
In January, a former D-T-S-B employee, Christina Garcia, was charged with embezzlement.
The charges document her alleged theft of $10,000, although audits place the actual loss to the agency as high as $200,000.
The Board Chairman of D-T-S-B tells Newscenter 16 that Guy felt a “fresh start” for management was appropriate,
