It is full speed ahead for Amtrak; literally.
Starting next fall, trains traveling between Niles and New Buffalo will speed up to 95-miles per hour.
That is because Amtrak is installing a new control system.
Work on the 20-mile expansion could begin as early as next month.
No routes will be shut down during the upgrade.
Amtrak says more passengers are riding its Michigan train routes, especially from Detroit to Chicago.
