A Michigan teenager is in the hospital following a shooting outside her school.
The shooting happened in the parking lot outside a Midland high school in central Michigan.
Police say 17-year-old Jessica Forsyth was shot by her ex-boyfriend four times, who then shot and killed himself.
Forsyth's mother had dropped the girl off and saw the shooting from her car; she then drove between the two to protect her daughter.
Hospital officials say Forsyth is in serious but stable condition.
