Video will be available shortly

The long-time director of Notre Dame's security died Wednesday.

Rex Rakow led the security police department since 1985.

He was diagnosed with cancer in 2005, and lost that fight at his home Wednesday.

The Mishawaka native had been a part of the department since 1971.

During his tenure, he directed security for countless football weekends, plus oversaw security for nine presidential visits, and visits by eleven other heads of state.

Rakow was 55 years old.

His visitation will be Friday from noon to 8PM at the Hahn Funeral Home in Mishawaka.

His funeral is scheduled for Saturday at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart.
