NewsCenter 16’s Cindi Clawson and Mike Hoffman were part of a handful of local meteorologists on hand in South Bend Saturday taking your weather questions.
"So what's you favorite kind of weather?” Mike Hoffman asked a child.
“Sunny,” the boy responded.
“Sunny?” Mike wondered. “You don't like storms or anything, you just like the sunny skies? A lot of people like storms. Sunshine is the nicest weather isn't it?”
That curious little boy joined dozens of others at a Community Severe Weather Seminar held today at the St. Joseph County Public Library.
An expert panel, including Mike Hoffman, spoke about the media's role during severe weather.
Official spotter training was also offered. Seve Eddy of the National Weather service said, "Our equipment is wonderful, it detects things but not everything. It sees stuff. We can make and educated guess, but we've gotta have people what's actually going on on the ground to make sure we're verifying what we think is going on."
If you could not attend today's event, but would still like to become a spotter more classes will be offered in Michiana.
