Team has Chemistry and Biology

Plans are in place to evacuate a section of northeastern Starke County!

Those plans will be carried out Saturday as fans of the Oregon Davis High School girl’s basketball team trek down to Indianapolis

The lady bobcats are playing in the class “A” state championship game.

While there’s only so much one man can do to contribute to a team’s success or failure, it’s hard to imagine anyone doing more than Bobcats Coach Terry Minix.

Like every winning team, Oregon Davis has its share of chemistry, but not many teams can lay claim to the same level of biology.

“Our coach, Terry Minix has a wife who is the assistant coach,” says Assistant Principal Rex Miller.

Minix also has two daughters, Gabrielle and Aubrey, who are starting players on the squad, and a cousin who is a substitute.

Minix has been the head coach at Oregon Davis for 14-years.

“I'm sure it's a wonderful feeling for him.
He has to be so proud, just like our whole community is proud, but him especially being his daughters,” says
Miller.

Terry Minix was on the 1979 and 1980 sectional championship teams at Oregon Davis, and he knows about the “jinx.”

Until last year, no Oregon Davis team in any sport had ever won a game in the regionals.
