A South Bend firefighter, who was convicted less than a year ago for drunk driving, was arrested this morning on suspicion of DUI.
Captain James Gadacz was pulled over on Niles Avenue in South Bend early this morning.
Police say his blood alcohol level was point-17, more than twice the legal limit.
Gadacz faces two counts, including a felony count of driving drunk with a previous DUI conviction.'
Last April, Gadacz was convicted of driving drunk in Elkhart County.
He was suspended from the fire department for 20 days without pay and temporarily demoted for that offense.
Chief Luther Taylor tells Newscenter 16 Gadacz has been suspended with pay for this arrest, until a March 7th public safety meeting.
